RSVP MX
The RSVP MX is a penmod created by Kam. It is one of the first mod ever created and one of the easiest to make. It is also one of the most famous penmods and is still used by a lot penspinners today.

About[edit]
The RSVP MX (for "RSVP MaXimum") was created in 2003 or before [1] by Kam with help from UPSB pen modders Nate and Takeshi (adding the RSVP grip in the cap) and Sikkita (removing the barrel writing with an eraser). The penmod is a continuation of a series of penmods by Kam that include the RSVP V1, RSVP V2 and the Momentum MX. As the Momentum MX was created to be optimal, The RSVP MX is a refined version of the later designed to be easier to make and to be more affordable.[2]

- Pentel R.S.V.P. (everything)
- Pentel Hybrid Gel Grip (grip and tip)
Tools:
- (Optional) Sand paper or a lighter to round off the clip.
- (Optional) X-acto knife or some other tool for poking the back cap.
- (Optional) Tape or Blu Tack to wrap around the RSVP tip.
Assembly[edit]
- Put the RSVP grip inside the RSVP cap.
- Remove the clip of the cap and (Optional) use the sandpaper to round off the stub.
- Screw the metal HGG tip onto the plastic RSVP tip.
- Slide the HGG grip over the tip and front of the RSVP barrel to replace the missing RSVP grip.
- Put the RSVP cap (together with the RSVP grip inside it) back on the back of the RSVP.
- (Optional) Poke a hole in the back plug, stick the ink tube in reversed, place back onto the RSVP barrel.

Customization[edit]
As the HGG and the RSVP exist in a lot of different colors and versions and as the body of the RSVP is insertable, the RSVP MX offers a large variety of color choices. The insert the most used were first the Kam insert but quickly became the Razen insert, as it has been used by a lot of famous korean penspinners.
In the first version of the RSVP MX, it was advised to clear the writings of the body and to push the cap enough on the body so that it exceeds from a few millimeters over the backcap of the RSVP (preventing the mod to break)[2]. But today, the writings are often left as they are and the cap is often pushed as little as possible. Reversing the inktube was an important step when the mod was created (this allowed to make the RSVP MX writable by removing the cap) but there are nowadays no clear preference among the penspinners to decide if it should be reversed or not. Reversing the inktube may lead to a more balanced penmod, but reversing it gives to the RSVP MX its unique inertia that some penspinners like a lot.
Variations[edit]
The RSVP MX stayed an iconic penmod throughout the penspinning history so that a lot of variations appeared. Among the most famous, we can cite the Toro MX, the Moonz MX, or the Sunburst MX. Most of these variations only consist in changing the tip, the grip and/or the version of the RSVP used for the body. However, some more complex variations exist, like the Momentum MX or more recently the Coffeelucky MX or the VoreTex MX.
Known users[edit]
The RSVP MX is one the most famous penmods of the penspinning history, so almost every penspinner owns one. It is so popular that it is difficult to name its more iconic users. Almost every Korean penspinner, (and more generally almost every penspinner before 2008) was an active user of the RSVP MX. In Japan, we can arbitrarily cite Toro, NIKoo or RiAsON and more recently hash, rpzn or iroziro. Kin also made a particular impression with this mod by managing to execute a large variety of hard tricks with it and being the last penspinner to reach the final rounds of a world tournament with this mod.
